MISSIONS SUNDAY 2016

     

Mission's Sunday happens every 
5th SUNDAY 
of a particular month that has 5 Sundays in it.  
This is usually every QUARTER of every Annual Calendar.

HOW SHOULD YOU AS A SITE / GROUP / CONGREGATION celebrate an HLM Mission's Sunday 

(only 4 times a year)?

THIS IS HOW:

1. PREACH on a powerful appropriate THEME expounding the essence of MISSIONS.  Make no compromise as you elaborate on the importance, scope and priority of MISSIONS.  Have examples of people in the PAST, PRESENT both known and unknown who totally embraced MISSIONS to be a priority in CHRISTIAN LIVING. You may incorporate these thoughts in your CURRENT SERIES / Teaching / Preaching.  NOTE:  THIS 2016-2017 an expansion in VISION and ACTION are happening in HisLife YX-UNWIND Networks -- they are going national and international :-)  MORE AND MORE launches are taking place!
2. PRAY for Missionaries by name both local and global [only those you know of], therefore pray by the degree of relationships you have with this MISSIONARY.  You may post some pictures of their work EXCEPT in closed door and restricted countries and territories.
3. PRAY for Pastor JR and THE MISSIONS TEAM of LEADERS as they keep on leading the OHLM Department.
4. HAVE A SPECIAL 2nd COLLECTION to be given to the "ONE HIS LIFE MISSIONS DEPARTMENT".  
• You have to use a different ENVELOPE, a different BASKET, a different CONTAINER for it.  
• OR you may have MISSIONS VOLUNTEERS near the DOOR to receive the gifts of God's People as they GO out after the WORSHIP EXPERIENCE.  
• Please be clear that people are NOT to put their TITHES here, but only their OFFERINGS and SPECIAL GIVINGS. 
• If writing a check please write to:  HIS LIFE MINISTRIES [specify for missions department].  
• PLEASE REPORT and REMIT to OHLM DEPARTMENT within 24 hours all your COLLECTIONS.
• NOTE:  15% or more of your 1st REGULAR GIVING Call will also be set apart for missions.  This is over and above the 2nd Collection.

HERE'S a FLOW on HOW to Receive the 1st OFFERINGS / TITHES:

BEFORE THE PREACHING of the WORD ...

1. Call and Talk to GIVE portion (less than 1 minute). DO NOT PREACH!  You may have 1 short story or feature!

2. Pray for all to GIVE portion (less than 1 minute).  

3. Give clear instructions on how to GIVE (at least 1 minute).  IF THERE ARE TWO ENVELOPES ... only use the REGULAR TITHE ENVELOPE here.  The other Envelope will be for Missions Giving later (after the Word).

4. Let people GIVE (at least 3 minutes) with matching SONG (do not let the congregation sing) DO NOT! DO NOT! DO NOT let them SING!  Let them GIVE!

5. Pass the OFFERING PLATES or BASKETS.

6. Gather all BASKETS in front (at the altar, cross, near the pulpit).

7. Count Money always with 3 people (2 to count, and 1 to watch only).  THIS WILL BE DONE AFTER THE CELEBRATION.

HERE'S a FLOW on HOW to Receive the 2nd OFFERING:

1. Remind that we are to respond to the Word today. It is Missions Sunday.

2. Give clear instructions on the 2nd Giving.  THIS WILL GO TO MISSIONS. Use a separate Envelope.  

3.  Let people GIVE (at least 2 minutes) with matching SONG (do not let the congregation sing) DO NOT! DO NOT! DO NOT let them SING!  Let them GIVE!

4.  Make sure the MISSIONS ENVELOPE or BASKET USED be counted separately. 

5.  Remit money collected for MISSIONS to CASHIER.  Have it labeled.

HOW TO INVITE PEOPLE to come to our BIG MEETINGS?

YOU have to first GO TO THEM!

Here's where you can begin!

Get yourself ready to share the GOSPEL using THE EvangeCUBE (see below)

We may do this for 2 to 3 straight days OR even up to 40 DAYS (our 40 Days WE GO TOGETHER CAMPAIGN version), asking God to lead us to people around the vicinity close to an upcoming Evangelistic Event [like a Christian Concert OR a Christmas Cantata or HOLY WEEK Theater Drama; or even a MEDICAL MISSION or NEW CHURCH LAUNCH OPENING or even why not YOUR LOCAL CHURCH SITE in town].

MAKE SURE TO ... 

1)  BE FILLED with the Holy Spirit.

2)  PRAY for total dependence on God.

3)  GET your tool, the Evangecube ready.

4)  MASTER the handling of the EVANGECUBE.

5)  SPOT people God would lead you to.

6)  REQUEST a moment with people God would lead you to TO SHARE THE CUBE'S Message.

7)  GIVE an INVITATION for them to accept Jesus Christ as Personal LORD and SAVIOR.

8)  THANK them for their time.

9)  GET some basic info using your ECUBE Follow Through Form [name, address, mobile number].

10)  INVITE them to come and BRING their friends and neighbors to a special concert, meeting or gathering sponsored by HLM.  

11)  GIVE them the INVITATION CARD to that specific gathering:  complete with Venue, Time, Event.

12)  KEEP on doing this until the LORD signals you to STOP :-)

Congratulations!  

You are now an EVANGELIST for JESUS!

Changes and Suddenlies

During one of our MANAGEMENT TEAM Meeting, someone suggested that MISSIONS should not anymore get 10% (or the tithe) of any local site at HLM.
The proposal was intended to gear the TITHE of all sites to the MAIN SITE of HLM.  Wow!
That was a SUDDENLY!

HUH?
- our main source of income to LAUNCH churches comes from the 10% of all SITES! Remember that without Missions, there will be no LAUNCHES!
- what will we now do?
- where will we now get the funding?
- is this a good idea?

It would look something like this:  [note this is only a suggestion ... not yet finalized]

• no more 10% from Sites / rather SITES Tithes to MAIN HLM.
• 5th Sunday of the month will be MISSIONS SUNDAY, thus 15% of the sites regular givings will go to MISSIONS and a 2nd Offering all goes to MISSIONS -- 100%, since it is MISSIONS SUNDAY.
• while -- the only one to TITHE BACK to MISSIONS will be the HLM MAIN.

We will have stronger NEW SITES as we apply the following in their TEAMS*:

• never LAUNCH if there is no FUND built up by the LAUNCH TEAM.
• the team must raise their resources aggressively.
• the team must be trained to believe in God -- all the way!
• the team must get at least 12 people / families to TITHE back to this new work.
• the team must have a certain amount of money (declared) before they GRAND LAUNCH!

The Suddenlies of God
One day Moses came to the mountain of God and out of nowhere “the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush”. Perhaps there are those that might have called Moses to be the deliverer of a nation in a more intelligent manner. A bush on fire in the back side of a desert? Not only that, but it was on fire but did not burn. It is written of Moses that he turned to see this great sight and “why the bush is not burnt”. When God saw that Moses turned aside, the Bible says “God called unto him out of the midst of the bush”. I don’t think he woke up that morning and had it figured out that on that day, God would talk to him and call him into a destiny that would change the course of history and do so by starting a fire in one bush, flames but no burning and then TALK to him from inside the bush!

Suddenly God appeared and in an unusual way. It was unforeseen, unexpected and without warning. This was unpremeditated on Moses part and there is no indication that he was preparing for this nor anticipating it.

When the Holy Spirit invaded the planet to begin to establish the rule and reign of the ascended King of Glory, Jesus Christ, it happened “suddenly”. “A sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind”. Those that were there were “sitting”. Not only that, “cloven tongues likes as of fire, and it sat upon each of them”. Jesus said that the Holy Spirit was coming but withheld the details. The spirit of religion wants the details before the event.

This religious mindset has to control. It attempts to prepare people for the coming of God in some manner and then of course has all the controls in place to make sure it is inoffensive. In other words palatable and decent palatable and decent in the name of balance, just in case He shows up in a manner that is a bit different than expected. It is called playing God. Nobody can do God but God. Offending the Holy Spirit is not even considered. Then of course the writer of most of the New Testament, Apostle Paul in his defense before the Jews later on in his ministry had this to say; “And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, SUDDENLY(italics mine), there shone from heaven a great light round about me” Acts 22:6

He also was thrown to the ground and blinded for a few days. Who will be God’s counselors anyway?” Who is the one as it says in Ecclesiastes 11:5, that “knowest the way of the spirit”……….or the “works of God”.? One of the ways that God impacts the people of the earth is by sudden, unexpected manifestations of His power. He just shows up and decides to do things no one was prepared for.

Gentiles Receive The Holy Ghost It says in Acts 10:44; “While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost FELL(italics mine) on all them which heard the word” Suddenly, during preaching, the Holy Ghost “fell”. That word means to come upon,to lie upon, to seize and to take possession of. Those with Peter were “astonished”. They were amazed but the greek is stronger than that. It means they were thrown into wonderment, out of their minds, insane at seeing this. It wasn’t just that the Gentiles received the Holy Ghost, it was the way it happened too. God decided to “pour” the Holy Spirit out then and there and in that manner.

The suddenlies of God are part of His handiwork in revealing His purposes when He decides to do it without warning and unexpectedly. While He is working in manifold ways by His Spirit to establish His presence and reality in our lives, He does reserve the right to show up when we least expect, don’t you think?

IN EVENTS RELATED TO BLESSING THE COMMUNITY, lets also use the "GOD IS GOOD" BAG.

= responding to needs (remember there will be more and more needs in the LAST DAYS)

a video of PEOPLE SAYING and DECLARING: "God is Good" or SHOUTING "God is Good" is also encouraged.  

NOTE:  

Lets be sensitive though to feelings of others if they are in a calamity situation.  

Even though it is true that "God is Good", we have to also sympathize to their predicament, that instead of SHOUTING "GOD is GOOD", we rather thank the LORD in SOLEMN prayers for their protection and provision.

The Parable of the Good Samaritan

25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

26 “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”

27 He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’[a]; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b]”

28 “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”

29 But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

30 In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denarii[c] and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’

36 “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”

Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

We launched our sixth location at Potomac Yard. Can't wait to make the drive from our Capitol Hill location, across the 14th Street bridge, down Jeff Davis Highway and make a left turn into Potomac Yard. We're dreamed of this for quite some time!

I love multi-site for so many reasons. Here are five of them:
